Nathan Bishop MacDonald was the honoured recipient of the 2022 Emm Gryner Chris Hadfield Music Industry Arts Award.
The Emm Gryner and Chris Hadfield Music Industry Arts Award is a prize presented to a standout individual in the renowned Music Industry Arts (MIA) program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. It recognizes up and coming artists who demonstrate exceptional talent and business acumen.
The award connects two distinguished figures in Canadian arts and space exploration:
Emm Gryner: An acclaimed, three-time Juno Award-nominated singer-songwriter and author who toured the world with David Bowie. Gryner is a graduate of Fanshawe's Music Industry Arts program.
Chris Hadfield: The legendary Canadian astronaut and musician who partnered with Gryner in 2013 to record a cover of David Bowie's "Space Oddity"—making it the first music video recorded in space.
Nathan enrolled as a student in the Music Industry Arts program during the COVID 19 pandemic as a way to stay connected to music and enhance his technical production skills during a period when performance venues were shut down.
