Nathan Bishop MacDonald to begin Friday Night Residency in Baddeck for summer 2026 

Cape Breton singer-songwriter Nathan Bishop MacDonald to begin a Friday night residency for the summer of 2026 at the Freight Shed Terrace in Baddeck, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Those familiar with Nathan's Sunday performances at the same venue can look forward to music from 5 pm to 9 pm every Friday night from June until mid September 2026.

Listeners can expect a mix of Nathan's unforgettable original Celtic folk, some Gaelic song, his unique interpretations of Cape Breton classics and a few jigs and reels for good measure. It is a truly Cape Breton experience you won't want to miss.

Spring 2026 Ontario Tour Dates Announced 

Nathan Bishop MacDonald will perform concerts in Ottawa, Ailsa Craig, Toronto and Whitby Ontario in May 2026. Since moving home to Cape Breton, Nathan has returned to tour Ontario annually. This year's tour will bring him to the following:

May 2 - River Oak Skating Trail and Cidery, Ottawa, ON

May 8 - House Concert - Ailsa Craig, ON

May 9 - Free Times Cafe - Toronto, ON

May 10 - Little Beasts Brewing Company - Whitby, ON

Tickets are available on Eventbrite with the exception of May 2 which can be purchased at riveroak.ca.

Western Canadian Dates with Lennan Delaney Announced 

Nathan Bishop MacDonald will reconnect with long time collaborator and fellow Cape Bretoner, Lennan Delaney, for shows in British Columbia and Alberta in late October, 2026.

The shows will take place at the Kimberley Curling Club in Kimberley, BC on October 24th and Brokefish Barn in Millarville, AB on October 25th as part of the Saltwater Sessions concert series.

Lennan Delaney is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who pla[ays a mean fiddle and fronts popular Western Canadian roots rock band, Leather Apron Revival.

The pair first connected for a gig at a pub called the James Joyce in Toronto's Annex and the chemistry was instantaneous. Since that time on the Toronto pub circuit, the Cape Breton duo have graced many stages large and small including the Wapati Music Festival in Fernie, BC in 2018. 

These shows mark the first time MacDonald and Delaney will share the stage since before the COVID 19 Pandemic.

Nathan Bishop MacDonald wins Emm Gryner Chris Hadfield Award 

Nathan Bishop MacDonald was the honoured recipient of the 2022 Emm Gryner Chris Hadfield Music Industry Arts Award. 

The Emm Gryner and Chris Hadfield Music Industry Arts Award is a prize presented to a standout individual in the renowned Music Industry Arts (MIA) program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. It recognizes up and coming artists who demonstrate exceptional talent and business acumen.

The award connects two distinguished figures in Canadian arts and space exploration:

Emm Gryner: An acclaimed, three-time Juno Award-nominated singer-songwriter and author who toured the world with David Bowie. Gryner is a graduate of Fanshawe's Music Industry Arts program.
 

Chris Hadfield: The legendary Canadian astronaut and musician who partnered with Gryner in 2013 to record a cover of David Bowie's "Space Oddity"—making it the first music video recorded in space. 

Nathan enrolled as a student in the Music Industry Arts program during the COVID 19 pandemic as a way to stay connected to music and enhance his technical production skills during a period when performance venues were shut down.

Nathan Bishop MacDonald Announces Finlaggan 

Canadian Singer Songwriter Nathan Bishop MacDonald is proud to announce the launch of his new Celtic band, Finlaggan. The group has been described as a Transatlantic Odyssey of Celtic music and features original songs and traditional tunes drawing on the Cape Breton, Scottish, Irish and Canadian Old Tyme traditions.

Nathan Bishop MacDonald returns to BC, Summer 2018 

Nathan will perform with long time collaborator Lennan Delaney this summer in British Columbia. The duo will perform at the Wapiti Music Festival (wapitimusicfestival.com) and other dates in the Kootney Region of British Columbia.

Delaney is a skilled fiddle player and multi-instrumentalist who has accompanied Nathan on many occasions over the years. The two Cape Bretoners played a short tour in BC last year and are excited to meet up for dates in Canada's Western-most province this summer, the highlight being the Wapiti music festival.

Nathan Bishop Band Selected to Showcase at NXNE

Toronto – May 8, 2012 – Uptown Underground is pleased to announce that the Nathan Bishop Band has been selected to showcase at the 2012 North By North East (NXNE) Conference and Festival. The band will take the stage at 8pm on Thursday, June 14th at Toronto’s famous Cameron House located at 408 Queen Street West (at Spadina).

“We’re very excited to be showcasing at NXNE and are definitely going to bring our A-game and leave it all on the stage,” said Bishop.

Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, Nathan Bishop released his debut solo effort, “Lovers, Leavers and Believers” which hit #15 on the Canadian itunes Charts on the first day of its release in June 2011. The artist was born and raised in Cape Breton Island and fronted a popular band in Ottawa before moving to the Big Smoke to take his music career to the next level.
